Rising 7th and 8th graders Enjoy Middle School Retreat

The rising 7th and 8th graders at Gramercy enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Camp Caroline, preparing for the 2017-2018 school year.  Set on the beautiful and peaceful Dawson’s Creek, Camp Caroline was the perfect location for our middle school students to get away and get with God before embarking on yet another school year.  Although the weather looked bleak at the onset, we were grateful for mostly sunny skies that allowed our students to swim in the pool, kayak on the creek, and trudge through mud puddles on an hour-long scavenger hunt.  The students were such a blessing to us and each other, showing kindness and compassion to one another in a way that quite frankly made us proud.

The students also had the pleasure of being well-fed by Mrs. Klosterman and Mrs. Tuckey, who together made homemade baked ziti, garlic bread, ceasar salad, pancakes, sausage and hot dogs!  If you have a middle school student, you know all too well how hungry those guys can get, but we did our best to make sure they had more than enough to eat.

In addition, the students also enjoyed a rich time of learning about the new things God is doing right now in their lives.  Focusing on our theme verses for the year (Isaiah 43: 18-19), students were able to hear from Mr. Greiner, Mrs. Klosterman, Coach Adams and myself about this amazing God we serve and how very much He loves us. Many students rededicated their lives to God and one student made a first-time decision for Christ!  These are the moments that make teaching at Gramercy the greatest job in the world!
